Revving Up to Rally: A Day of Adventure and Camaraderie at the Table Bay Hotel!

Today is the day we meet our fellow rally peeps! It all began with a whirlwind departure from Cousin Abby’s place at the crack of 11 am. Marsel, our temperamental Mercedes, was packed to the brim with tools, electronics, a cooler filled with tantalizing treats, and suitcases bursting with anticipation.

We arrived at our destination, the Table Bay Hotel, smack dab in the V&A waterfront in Cape Town and what do you know, Marsel had a surprise in store for us – another leak! But fear not, for the Destination Rally crew came to our rescue with their crack team of mechanics.

The energy was buzzing as fellow rallyists from a staggering 16 countries began to converge. Picture this: a breathtaking parade of vintage cars, each with its own story to tell. From the timeless elegance of a 1934 Lagonda to the iconic presence of a 1973 Ford Mustang, the lineup was a feast for the eyes, showcasing an automotive history.

After 4 nail-biting hours of tinkering and tuning, the mechanics emerged victorious, with Marsel purring like a contented kitten! (See pics) With hearts full of gratitude, we eagerly accepted our rally swag, before diving headfirst into a debriefing session where stories were shared and friendships forged.

But the excitement didn’t end there! We were treated to a mesmerizing display of dance and music by local youth, immersing ourselves in the vibrant culture of Cape Town. As the evening drew to a close, we sat down to a sumptuous dinner, swapping tales and laughter with our newfound companions, each one a testament to the spirit of adventure that binds us all together.
