Welcome To The Jungle: From Kings and Kingdoms to Lions, many Lions

Back in the car and hitting the road again, we ventured from bustling Maputo, Mozambique’s capital, to the unique realm of Eswatini, Africa’s last absolute monarchy. With a King boasting 15 wives and a legacy of over 200 children, this kingdom is a realm of royal extravagance! Eswatini is officially the Kingdom of Eswatini and is known by its former official name, Swaziland, and formerly the Kingdom of Swaziland.

Navigating through Eswatini’s rugged terrain, we faced the choice of the long road or the scenic shortcut. Naturally, we opted for a true rally road complete with dirt tracks and picturesque vistas.

Exiting Eswatini, we returned to South Africa via the Phinda Game Reserve, a sprawling expanse of lush jungle teeming with wildlife. Lions, cheetahs, rhinos, and more awaited us in this veritable paradise. Despite our best efforts, the elusive leopard remained hidden from view.

Our lodge, nestled amidst the wilderness, required vigilant security measures against curious critters. With doors and windows locked tight, and a guard as our nighttime escort, we embraced the thrill of living among Africa’s majestic creatures.

Even Marsel, our trusty companion, couldn’t escape the wild’s grip, succumbing to a flat tire. But fear not! With a bit of ingenuity and a bicycle tire pump sourced from a nearby village, Marsel was soon back on track.
